Does Shaving Make Hair Grow Back Thicker?
Is it really true that shaving makes hair grow back thicker or is this merely a myth? You’ve probably been told from someone before that shaving does make hair thicker and indeed in some cultures it is believed that shaving a baby’s head will make the hair grow back thicker and fuller but the truth is that shaving really has no effect on the hair’s thickness or how it grows.
Shaving works by using a shaver to cut hair close to the skin’s surface and as hair grows from follicles that are beneath the surface of the skin, shaving will therefore not affect the hair that is developing inside the follicles. When you shave it may feel coarser at first but that’s because hair has a soft tip and when you shave it, it cuts that soft tip off and therefore feels coarser.
